| Mortars are carved with a rough interiors that catch and crack rice hulls in order to collect the inner pearly grain. Our antique round and square granite mortars vary greatly in size from massive mortars used by an entire village to smaller ones used in a home for use by a single family. Use one of these worn and weathered pieces to create a unique garden birdbath, water feature or deck planter. Occasionally we find a mortar reworked from an older object - as with the carved drum seat mortars currently in our collection. | |||||||||
